Old World Spices & Seasonings is a family-owned business of three generations’ experience in the upscale gourmet-food and seasoning industry. After 60 years developing delicious, homemade-tasting products and ingredients for the dairy, deli, bakery, meat and food service industries, the Jungk family decided to bring its gourmet recipes right to the table for upscale culinary enjoyment. In 2000, Old World, under the direction of the Jungk’s eldest daughter, Laurie, produced its first line of soups, dips, meat rubs and marinades, and desserts for the specialty gourmet retail marketplace. Laurie loved to create new recipes and recreate dishes she enjoyed in restaurants. Local and national publications featured Laurie and her recipes. Even her daughters shared her passion for food and creativity, and they also were featured in food publications. Today, Old World’s gourmet products have been expanded and refined and the packaging updated to create the new Laurie’s Kitchen line, named for Laurie who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37 in 2001.
Old World also custom blends seasonings as a research-&-development boutique, which means that hundreds of companies across the United States depend on Old World to help them develop their own special seasonings, mixes and ingredients. These products include sauces and salad dressings, barbeque rubs, bagel toppings, waffle seasonings and bread mixes, just to name a few. With more than 5,000 formulas available and a team of experienced research chefs on staff, Old World can produce cutting-edge flavors and formulas for nearly every industry and application, from food service to industrial ingredients, to fancy private label products in an array of packaging styles.
Whether you are the CEO of a major food-processing facility or an entrepreneur exploring a new line of your own, Old World has an experienced representative ready to help you plan future products and reach your long-term goals.
Our Quality Assurance (QA) Department monitors a food safety and inspection program that begins with our suppliers and continues until the product is safely in our customers’ hands. This program is comprised of three parts: the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) process, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program and first in/first out (FIFFO) inventory control. These and other food safety and sanitation processes allow us to meet or exceed all FDA and AIB standards that apply to food processing, storage and delivery. Our plant inspections, conducted by the American Institute of Baking, have a history of “SUPERIOR” ratings.
Our corporate chef and research and innovation team selects the finest ingredients from around the world to offer the richest flavors, most healthful ingredients and best value to you, our customers. Each of our products reflects the marriage of our culinary expertise with the requests and ideas of our customers. The result is a family of products that is simple to prepare and unmatched in homemade taste. Consumers can then create their own signature dishes by adding their favorite ingredients for a simple-to-make gourmet result.
