Laurie’s Meatball Grinders ala Puttanesca

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1.4 oz) packet Laurie’s Kitchen™ Puttanesca Sauce Mix
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 lb. frozen Italian style meatballs
  • 6 hoagie or deli buns
  • 12 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese (or 2-cups shredded)

Directions:

  • Preheat broiler to low setting.
  • In a medium size saucepan, stir Laurie’s Kitchen™ Puttanesca Sauce Mix into the crushed tomatoes. 
  • Add meatballs and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to low and cover. 
  • Simmer 20 minutes, stirring often.
  • While meatballs are heating, toast buns under broiler. 
  • Remove and place 2 slices of cheese to cover bun. 
  • Melt under broiler until bubbly. 
  • Divide meatballs and Puttanesca sauce onto buns. 
  • Serve immediately with plenty of napkins. (serves 4-6)
